A few years ago my Dom and I designed a collar for my daily wear. I am a professional woman and wearing a collar at my office was simply not an option ... yet I wanted (and needed) to feel owned and cherished even while I was working in my professional capacity. My Dom knew that I enjoyed making jewelry as a hobby, so he graciously allowed me to craft my own daytime collar. I started with a basic Byzantine chain mail pattern, varying the sizes and materials to give it a more delicate and unique look, and finished it off with a lovely padlock toggle clasp. When alone or with my Dom, I wear it as a choker with the padlock facing front. When at work or in situations where I must be discreet, I wear the padlock clasp on the back where it is covered by my hair. I also made an extension piece of approximately two inches in length, which attaches by lobster claw hooks on both ends. This piece is also worn on the back where it is covered by my hair. This extends the collar so it appears as a lovely and delicate necklace with a business suit. I can't tell you how many compliments I've received on my "necklace". Below is the collar with extension piece on the back - as you can see, it looks like a classy necklace now.
One day I realized that many other couples might also desire a discreet, classy symbol of their special relationship that can be worn on a daily basis. Thus, "Elegant Collars" was born. I started designing new styles, created a website, and the rest is, as they say, history.
